The recently launched Final Fantasy 14 version for Nintendo Switch 2 has encountered a loading performance problem. Square Enix has acknowledged that some players might face extended loading screens in specific in-game scenarios.
The developer has pinpointed the cause and is working on an update to enhance performance.
Square Enix has issued a notice explaining that the issue arises when players enter zones with many characters. The company stated that the problem is linked to prolonged data reloading and cache clearing processes necessary for correct rendering. Square Enix is presently testing enhancements before deploying the patch.
Square Enix Addresses Delay Issues During Screen Transitions
Square Enix clarified that the delays are particularly evident during instances when the screen fades to black, such as during dungeon transitions, teleportation between areas, reviving after being defeated, and utilizing Warp or Aethernet functions.
Square Enix mentioned that optimization efforts have already been made to enhance loading speeds in similar scenarios.
Despite the problem, Final Fantasy 14 is still fully playable on Nintendo’s new hardware, with the upcoming update anticipated to enhance the overall experience for Switch 2 users.
Square Enix has not provided a specific release date for the patch but has confirmed it is working to make the update available as soon as possible. The Switch 2 version is currently accessible through the Nintendo eShop, introducing the long-standing MMORPG to a new platform.
