Crimson Desert has undergone one of its most significant post-launch updates with Patch 1.16, which features a comprehensive revamp of the game’s trading mechanics, along with numerous gameplay enhancements and bug fixes. Released on August 1, the update was followed by two hotfixes—Patch 1.16.03 on August 4 and Patch 1.16.04 on August 5—that address equipment-related issues identified after the main patch’s release.

The main feature of the update is an extensively enhanced trading system aimed at making commerce more rewarding and dynamic. Alongside changes to the economy, Pearl Abyss has tackled quest progression issues, combat bugs, stability problems, graphics enhancements, and various quality-of-life improvements impacting almost every part of the game.

As stated in the official patch notes released by Pearl Abyss, Update 1.16 aims to enhance long-term progression and refine the gameplay experience.

The highlight of Update 1.16 is the game’s enhanced trade network. Pearl Abyss has introduced 133 new trading posts, including a merchant at the Pailune Trading Post, providing players with more options to buy, transport, and sell goods worldwide.

Trading has become more strategic, as prices now vary based on the quantity of goods sold at a particular location, motivating players to explore less common routes for higher profits. Royal Trading Posts have gained significant value, with trade goods now selling for four times their previous price, while overall trading profits have increased.

The update adds 24 new high-value trade goods and four extra standard trade items. Players can now stack packaged goods more effectively, transfer merchandise between horses and wagons, and sell individual trade goods instead of complete shipments.

To bolster the new economy, seven wagon workshops have been established throughout Pywel. These sites serve as intermediate trading centers where players can package and load goods before proceeding on their journeys.

Pearl Abyss has simplified trading management by introducing several new interface features. A specific Trade tab has been incorporated into the world map, making it easier for players to find trading posts, wagon workshops, and royal trading posts.

The revised map now shows wagon routes, average purchase prices, available goods, and merchants involved in special trade events. Players can additionally filter locations by item type, simplifying the planning of profitable trade runs across the continent.

Apart from trading, the update brings in new banking features such as Bond Shops, investment mechanics, and Claim Bank Strongbox, providing players with more options to handle their in-game wealth.

In addition to revamping the economy, Patch 1.16 offers a comprehensive array of gameplay fixes addressing quests, controls, combat, graphics, localization, and stability.

Several quests that were previously blocked, such as “Assassinate Count Byron,” “Lawless Market,” and “Where Misery Gathers,” have been fixed, and issues with challenge tracking affecting multiple achievements have been addressed.

Combat has undergone numerous improvements, including smoother combo transitions, enhanced handling of ranged weapons, and corrections for enemy behavior, elemental skills, and character-specific abilities. On PC, the update also introduces AMD FSR SDK 2.3.0, adds FSR Upscaling 4.1 support for Radeon RX 7000 Series GPUs, updates ray regeneration technology, and reduces visual flickering in several areas.

The two subsequent hotfixes issued on August 4 and August 5 resolve equipment-related issues, such as shields vanishing when changing weapon sets and inventory discrepancies that might happen after saving and reloading the game.

Players seeking the detailed list of changes can view the full patch notes on the official Crimson Desert Steam Community page and the game’s official news channels.
