Capcom has launched a free Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo, offering players their first chance to experience the popular action RPG without buying the complete game. The demo, released over a year after the game’s initial launch on February 28, 2025, allows newcomers to explore the opening hours before deciding on a purchase. The announcement was made on Capcom’s official channels following the demo’s release.
The Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo enables players to create both their Hunter and Palico companion and play through the game’s introduction up to Chapter 1-3: To the Forest, which includes the fifth main mission. Capcom has confirmed that save data from the demo can be transferred to the full game, allowing players to continue their journey if they decide to buy it later.
However, the demo comes with some restrictions. Photo Mode is disabled, and all online multiplayer features are unavailable, preventing players from experiencing Monster Hunter’s signature cooperative gameplay during the trial. The demo is released alongside changes to Monster Hunter Wilds’ product lineup.
Capcom has lowered the base game’s price to $39.99 and introduced a new Gold Edition priced at $79.99, which includes the game along with several DLC and cosmetic items. Capcom has also announced that the Ascendance expansion is set for release in 2027. Monster Hunter Wilds is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version still in development.
