The reanimated anime movie “Gintama: Yoshiwara in Flames Arc” is now available for streaming on Netflix worldwide. The animation was produced by Studio BN Pictures, with Naoya Ando serving as the director. The film originally premiered in Japan on February 13.
The movie’s content focuses on the battle against Hosen, which was earlier adapted in episodes 139-146 of the anime. Netflix has released a new clip to celebrate the streaming debut.

Hideaki Sorachi was the author and illustrator of the Gintama manga, which was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump from 2003 to 2018, and subsequently in their Jump Giga until February 2019.
Gintama was animated by Sunrise until Season 4, after which Bandai Namco Pictures took over. The anime consists of 367 episodes, alongside various OVAs, movies, games, novels, and specials. The latest release, Gintama: The Very Final, premiered in 2021, concluding the anime by adapting the manga’s final arc. The film was both critically acclaimed and commercially successful, earning over 1.85 billion yen (approximately USD 17 million) and ranking among Japan’s top-grossing anime films of the year.
